Dental Crown
Repair weakened, broken or damaged teeth using a dental crown
If your tooth has become damaged or decayed, we can repair it using a dental crown, which encases your tooth in order to strengthen and protect it while offering a beautiful natural finish.
As a result, you can benefit from the appearance and functionality of a healthy tooth, while enjoying the confidence of a restored smile.
At our state-of-the-art dental clinic in Sydney’s CBD, our highly trained dental experts can help to repair weakened, broken or damaged teeth, as well as enhancing a tooth’s aesthetic appearance, with high quality, long-lasting dental crowns.
The benefits of a dental crown
Teeth can become damaged or decayed for a number of reasons, from poor diet and inadequate oral hygiene to injury, damage sustained from biting into something very hard, or as a result of bruxism (teeth clenching or grinding).
Whatever the reason for damage or decay, our expert dental practitioners are here to give you your smile back, with our advanced dental crown treatment that restores appearance and functionality.
A dental crown offers multiple advantages, including:
- Strengthened tooth: A dental crown strengthens your damaged tooth in order to prevent further damage or problems that could occur as a result of a weakened tooth.
- Enhanced appearance: As dental crowns completely encase the tooth, they can cover misshapen or discoloured teeth, resulting in a brighter, whiter, more even smile.
- Long-lasting: With the right care, your dental crown can last for decades, allowing you to get on with your life without worrying about your damaged tooth.
How do dental crowns work?
For standard dental crowns, your procedure will usually be split over two appointments:
First appointment
During the first appointment, your dentist will prepare the tooth by removing a very thin layer to make room for the crown, as well as shaping the tooth.
A mould of your mouth will be taken in order to create your custom dental crown and a temporary crown will be fitted over your tooth to protect it until you receive your permanent crown.
In some cases, such as if you’re getting a porcelain crown fitted over one of your front teeth, we may ask you to visit our lab for an expert colour match. This will ensure your new crown perfectly matches the rest of your smile.
Second appointment
In the second appointment, your dentist will fit your permanent crown onto your tooth. The crown will be cemented into place and then shaped so it fits your natural bite.
CEREC same-day restorations
At CBD Dental, we also offer a special same-day service for dental crowns, using CEREC. This advanced technology allows us to create and fit your ceramic dental crowns on the same day, so you don’t need to come in for another appointment.
CEREC same-day restorations are made using advanced CAD/CAM technology in our modern dental practice.
After taking a digital scan of your tooth, your dentist will upload it into our software and design a custom dental crown that’s milled on-site.
Once your crown is ready, one of our experienced dentists will ensure it’s the perfect colour and shade for your surrounding teeth, before finally fitting your crown into place – all in a single visit!
