Dental Bridge

A dental bridge is a permanent solution to fill a gap left by missing teeth

Dental Bridge

If you’re missing a single tooth or even multiple teeth, the experienced team at CBD Dental is committed to helping you restore your beautiful smile, so you can enjoy the confidence of a full set of healthy, natural-looking teeth.

A dental bridge is a permanent solution for missing teeth that fills the gap left by a missing tooth. Rather than implanting the artificial tooth into the jaw like a dental implant. A bridge connects the false tooth to your natural teeth on either side of the gap.

The result is a bright, even and full smile that you’ll love to show off.

The benefits of a dental bridge

A dental bridge can be a preferable choice for replacing a missing tooth for a number of reasons:

  • Avoids the need for an invasive implant
As traditional dental implants are implanted into the bone below the gum line. This procedure is more invasive and complex… furthermore, dental implants aren’t suitable for people with minimal amounts of remaining bone.
  • The confidence of a full smile
Missing teeth can severely impact your self-confidence, causing you to avoid smiling or even withdraw socially. By filling the gap left by a missing tooth, a dental bridge can give you back your confidence with a natural-looking solution.
  • Normal tooth functionality
Your dental bridge will offer all the functionality of your natural teeth, so you’ll be able to eat, drink and talk with ease.
  • Improved oral health
A missing tooth can have a negative impact on your remaining teeth, causing them to deteriorate faster and move out of position. As a result, a dental bridge can help you achieve and maintain better dental health.

The different types of bridges’

A dental bridge is a fantastic choice for people who are missing one or more teeth and are able to maintain proper dental hygiene. Having a bridge inserted can help to prevent further tooth decay and gum disease, as well as stop the remaining teeth from spreading further apart.

From the comfort of our state-of-the-art dental clinic in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, we offer a variety of options:

Traditional Bridge

Traditional bridge

This involves the use of crowns and bridges to provide a replacement for a missing tooth or teeth, that does not need to be removed once it has been installed.

Cantilever Bridge

Cantilever bridge

This type of bridge may be used when someone has teeth remaining on just one side of the open space, with the false tooth anchored to an adjacent natural tooth or teeth.

A cantilever dental bridge can be a good choice for areas of the mouth that aren’t placed under too much stress, such as the front teeth.

Resin Bonded Bridge

Resin bonded

This method is typically the least expensive and can be used in cases where the bridge is able to attach to healthy teeth that have no fillings.

This type of bridge generally involves much less preparation than other bridge work, and is used in non-stress regions of the mouth.

What does the treatment involve?

Your specific procedure will depend on a number of factors, including the size of the space you are filling, the type of bridge you get and the condition of your teeth and gums.

At CBD Dental, our personalised approach means we’ll take the time to undertake a comprehensive evaluation of your teeth and mouth before we start your treatment, in order to develop a tailored treatment plan for you.

Your procedure will generally start with an examination and x-ray, as well as treatment of any existing gum disease or tooth decay. After this, your dentist will prepare your teeth, make space for the crowns, and take impressions so our dental lab can create custom-made crowns and an artificial tooth.

To finish this appointment, your dentist will add a temporary bridge, which will protect your teeth and gums until your permanent bridge is ready.

In your follow-up appointment, your dentist will remove the temporary bridge and insert the permanent one using special dental cement. They’ll then ensure that the dental bridge suits your bite and that you’re comfortable with the finished result.
